Flat Iron Steak & Cocktail Project

Upstairs at one of my local haunts, The Owl And Pussycat, a new pop-up has been causing a stir. I finally got the chance to eat there on Friday night.

There’s only one thing on the menu. Meat. If you’re vego, this place wont tickle your fancy. If you like meat – get there. It closes next week.

Highlights: Mini-meat cleaver. Biggest block of ice I’ve ever seen. Steak. Strawberry, Basil and Earl Grey Collins.

The Little Book Of Little Gardens

I’m over the moon to announce that the book I’ve been working on for the past few years is now available for pre-sale on Amazon! It will be available in stores soon.

I can’t tell you how excited I am. A big thank you to Kate McAuley for writing the foreward, Stephanie Wolff for her wonderful photographs, Heidi Helyard for the layout and Dokument Press for putting a lot of faith in my little gardens.

I’m working on plans for the launch party so stay tuned…

Talking at TEDxHackney

I was privileged to be asked to speak at TEDxHackney last week. After the success of my Lost Lecture, I thought I’d give it a shot.

Asked to speak about happiness, I gave a 12 minute talk all things happy. I of course decided to do things a little differently and I added my own style of happiness to the reception at the event at Hackney Picturehouse.

I was pleased with how my talk went – I’ll post the podcast when it’s live. Here is a sneak preview of my pothole-garden-in-a-suitcase that I used as part of my presentation!

Oxford And Cambridge Goat Race

The famous goat race happened on the weekend. There was also a boat race on too…

Cambridge managed to win this year (again) but I think race wasn’t quite the right word. It was more like a stroll for these guys! I wonder what they must think each year.

What an awesome afternoon. Music, beer and a goat race. Who could ask for more? It’s a great thing for Spitafields City Farm, check out their site and stay tuned for next years goat race!

My Spiky, but friendly, new pal

They say never work with kids or animals. Well “they” aren’t always correct. My recent project with my spiky little friend Lord Weetabix was the most fun I’ve had in a long time.

I recently became aware of the charity called PTES, who have a wonderful little site full of hedgehog friendly tips. I created a post for them on my gardening blog, and also created this little film…

A garden with an Aussie theme…

I’ve been out gardening again. This morning I headed out at the crack of dawn with the camera to Trafalgar Square to brighten London up a little.

After my recent chat with Ryk Goddard on ABC radio he sent me a great little piece of knitting from Hobart’s Phantom Knitter, so I ended up doing a spot of Yarn Bombing too. It was too much fun!

Here’s a little film we made – enjoy!

Drum roll please

I blogged recently about getting in front of the camera for my shoot with Story Worldwide for the opening of Westfield Stratford City.

I just got hold of the film and I think it’s come out pretty well, they’ve done a great job putting it together. The first person I showed it to kindly explained that they have a term in French for me “il a un grain” – with a grain of sand in his head…

Let me know what you think!

Story…

I blogged the other week about my adventures in front of the camera. Well, they’ve been continuing. I got a call from Sophie and the team from Story Worldwide who asked to shoot me as part of a peice they’re doing for the opening of the Westfield Stratford, next to the 2012 Olympic site.

Story’s ethos is based around connecting brands to consumers by telling engaging stories. Their work is quite unique and I was stoked to be asked to be a part of their work for Westfield.

Here are a couple of behind the scenes pics from the shoot. I’ll post the video shortly…

Blue bikes…

Has anyone else noticed bikes parked around London covered in Blue Stickers? I’ve seen a bunch of them. While I think they are quite cool, they’ve left me a little perplexed…who are they for and what’s it all about then? I’ve been googling away but so far haven’t found anything…
